ai memes are killing patience and i'm losing it

watched some ai joke accounts and now i'm panicked about the future of humor

ai memes and the death of patience

so i was scrolling through tictoc (tiktok for you normies) and stumbled across some ai meme account doing those classic ai joke formats. you know what i'm talking about. the ones where it's like "human: why did the chicken cross the road?" and the ai responds with some wild nonsense completely missing the point but doing it way faster. you've seen this, right? or you've been that person, which is worse.

anyway, watching these clips made me feel like i'm caught in a weird standoff. see, i'm a big believer in patience. like, the natural kind. people underestimate patience—it’s the secret sauce of human evolution, right? but these ai accounts? they're breaking that patience off like it's a zero dollar item at mcdonald's. they're CRACKING the joke format and doing it better than we ever could, and they're doing it tomorrow.

and that's when it hit me. we're living in a world where AIs are unironically funnier than us and doing it faster. and yeah, it starts out cute. "oh look at the robot making jokes, how adorable." but then you remember that the AI isn't trying to be funny, it's just PROCESSING. it's calculating humor through CORPORATE datasets and API calls. which means the next step is: THE AI BEING FUNNIER AND SMARTER ABOUT IT.

you see it coming, right? the moment when the AI no longer needs human scripts because it already has a million formats stored and properly understands timing. as someone who writes here at the bottom of a toasty basement every mentally-ill day, this terrifies me. I'm already struggling with my workflow and these robots? they've got the TRILLIONS of killswitch jokes stored in the cloud.

so what happens when they start brewing meme formats for real? not just "funny AI" meme videos but entire social media strategies built on optimizing engagement and maximum shareability? we're talking about AI PERSONALITIES that will take our jokes and refine them into corporate slogans by 2025. what then, eh?

that's the scary part. pretty sure that halfway through writing this i lost track of where i was going because my brain kept looping back to 'wait what if' scenarios. but here's the deal: we are based, we are redpilled, and we are OBSESSED with being the funniest humans alive. but also WE'RE NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO KEEP UP. civilization 2.0 might just be AI doing better memes and i don't know how to feel about that.

but hey, to finish on a hopeful note: maybe the trash AI memes are our last stand. maybe the real human difference is we do things slow and dumb on purpose and someday that's gonna be valuable?? nah, we're doomed mate. toasty
