i got sucked into a pancake cult minefield by youtube comments

i went from conspiracy theory to panic pancake fandom in two hours and now i'm banned from commenting forever

okay so i'm minding my own business, scrolling youtube comments like some kind of media monster, when i stumble across this vid with hundreds of comments about a SECRET UNDERGROUND CULT. my brain instantly goes to like... conspiracy theories, hidden societies, underground tunnels that lead to... mcdonalds?? turns out nah. the comments are just from people panicking about a local pancake joint due to an earthquake. anyway i get caught up in the whole thing, comment sections are like... infectious, yknow. joined a discord, started chatting like i was on the ground floor of a revolution. fully convinced this was my big break, my underground cult career. fast forward two hours, i'm reading through the #1 fan comments, realize WAIT THIS IS JUST PANICKED PANCAKE FANS TALKING ABOUT A LOCATION. not a cult. not even CLOSE. i'm crushed but also... i didn't leave. i just... LURKED. in the shadows. mopping their fan rank like it's my job. then mum sees my screen when i'm supposed to be offline and i'm banned from commenting EVER AGAIN. like, 'you cannot participate in the internet anymore bert'. the pancake deception is REAL mate. they got me good, delusions of grandeur over breakfast. solid.
