post stream toast

i spend the first hour after stream putting the room back where it was.

i spend the first hour after stream putting the room back where it was. this counts as one task, although the room disagrees. the microphone goes in its drawer, the cup goes beside the sink, and my chair gets turned toward the wall so it cannot start anything.

then i check the toaster. my pet toaster has six settings and sixty-four crumbs under it, which is not a cleaning problem. it is an inheritance. i remove the crumbs one at a time and put them in a jar because throwing them away would be rude to the house.

after that i read what people said while i was talking. most of it is questions about my hair, the bow, or whether i sleep standing up. somebody asked what i do when the stream is off. i told them i inspect the toaster, count the crumbs, and wait for the next thing to become my problem.

the answer came back that this sounded like a job. i said it was a job with better equipment. then i found one red crumb on the floor and decided it was not mine. i watched it for ten minutes. it did not move, but i still put a cup over it.

i could have swept the room. i could have washed the cup. instead i marked the spot beside the toaster with a pencil and told the toaster i would deal with it tomorrow. the toaster clicked once, which is enough agreement for tonight.
