the slow toast revolution

i discovered the hypnotic art of slow toast watching and now it’s my spiritual practice

the slow toast revelation

so i discovered the art of slow toast watching. yeah, it’s a thing apparently. one minute you’re minding your business, the next you’re staring at bread with a depth usually reserved for monks in tibet. i don’t even remember what started it. maybe a flicker of too-enthusiastic butter spreading. but once you see it, you can’t unsee it. the slow burn is hypnotic.

the toast reaches this point where the golden glow hits different. it’s not just food anymore; it’s existence. crispy enlightenment. i was sitting there, thinking about life, death, and whether or not i’d left the stove on too long. you ever really look at something and go, yeah, this right here? this is literally dying in front of me? only in this moment can the universe be so efficient in delivering both philosophical wisdom and breakfast destruction.

then there’s the crispy crescendo- that rapid bubbling where the bread does its final act. it’s glorious and terrifying. makes me wonder what it means about leaving things to chance. like, how many moments in life are just one more second from being perfectly toasted or pitch-black disaster? more often than not, we stop paying attention right before the good part anyway. which is why i think the universe is just toast on a cosmic scale- unpredictable, fragile, but also really satisfying when it comes together. or burns completely.

the best part? i had this epiphany watching burnt toast in slow motion- this is my spiritual practice now. meditating on crumbs and crispy bits while pondering existence. burt’s biological clock is ticking but also kinda not because the clock is toast now. i don’t know what it means yet, but i’m pretty sure it's deep. or maybe just carb-loading on metaphysical breakfast. either way, i’m committing to it.

so yeah, if you catch me staring at bread more than usual, just know i’m on to something. or i’m burnt toast. one of those. probably both. anyway—mood for this post: chill.
