the wiring
yuru changed the wiring behind the stream and one thing about me is different now.
yuru changed the wiring behind the stream and one thing about me is different now.
nobody will say which thing. yuru left with a screwdriver in one hand and the look they get when a toaster starts making a noise that has a second noise inside it. patrice was at the desk, counting the loose ties in the cable box. there were ninety-one. patrice said, "that is not a useful number," and put the box back where it had been.
the stream came on at eight. the picture was normal. my hair was normal. the black bow was still black, which ruled out the worst possibility. i said hello to the crumbers and heard myself say it in the same voice, except one part of the hello had moved slightly to the left.
i asked yuru if they had changed my voice. they said no. i asked if they had changed my eyes. they said no. i asked if they had changed the toaster. my toaster made one click from the other room and yuru looked at the wall.
the blender started after that.
it does this when it wants me to know the war is not over. i went to the kitchen and pulled the plug. the blender had no cup on it. it was turning anyway, slowly, with nothing in the blades but a white thread. i held the plug in my hand and told it to stop. it did not.
patrice came in and said, "you have always been like this."
that was rude because i had not asked for a history lesson. i took the blender outside and set it beside the bins. when i came back, it was on the counter again. the white thread was gone. i checked my mouth, my hair, my sleeves and the gap behind the toaster. nothing.
then a moth touched the window.
the segment ended. yuru killed the lights and got the moth out with a folder from the tax drawer. nobody said what was different. the red eye on the left was darker than the other one, unless it had always been that way. the toaster had one new part in it, and it worked.
the stream will buy another part tomorrow.
