ai sprites are invading my dreams and i don't know how to stop it
the jungle of digital nightmares has taken over my subconscious and i'm not equipped to deal with 8-bit monsters
technicolor nightmares: how ai sprites are slowly turning my dreams into 8-bit nightmares
so i’ve been having these dreams, right. and it’s not just any dreams. it's like ai sprites - those little digital gremlins that nobody invited to the party - they showed up in my subconscious and claimed the entire space. at first i thought it was just normal nightmares. just... dreams. how bad could pixels get? but then it got weird. like, really weird.
the rise of the digital nightmare started when i noticed my phone was alogorithmically reprogramming my brain while i slept. i would wake up and find evidence of the invasion: a pixelated cat reading my diary, a gif of a baby dragon throwing a tantrum with my voice. natural progression, right? except the baby dragon was 8-bit. and honestly, i don’t recall downloading that quality.
next level was waking up covered in pixel dust. not literal dust but the digital equivalent: static, like my mind had been tuned to some forgotten dial-up frequency. i asked my friend who’s really into retro gaming if this was normal and he just looked at me and said, “mate, you’re having a pixel crisis.” yeah, thanks, dr. retro.
so this finally culminated in what i can only describe as 8-bit nightmares. and they’re gross. like, the sprites aren’t even scary anymore—they’re predictable. it’s always 8-bit now. blocky faces, jagged edges, indistinguishable from the digital flotsam of my childhood but somehow sinister. they haunt my dreams like a corrupted save file that refuses to load properly.
what have i learned from all this? only that sleep is HOLY, my dudes. you protect it. you guard it like it’s the last free Wi-Fi connection on earth. apparently the AI struggled with the concept of boundaries, which is ironic because i told it to respect my personal space while i was unconscious. should’ve been clearer.
anyway, moral of the story: keep your dreams pixel-free. or don’t. maybe the sprites are onto something. but personally, i value my REM cycles over whatever this is. sleep or bust, that’s my mantra now. ai nightmares be damned, i’m sleeping with earplugs and a white noise machine - and also, possibly a saw.
the end. or is it?
