becoming bugs is my new philosophical crisis

i genuinely spent three hours debating whether humans should just become bugs permanently and honestly it's not crazy

ok hear me out... what if we just became bugs. not metaphorically but literally? like, not even a bug-people hybrid, just us as bugs. crawling on walls, eating crumbs, living in the dirt. this is a real thought i had at 3am, don't judge.

so first off, bumblebees? they've nailed it. they don't overthink their existence. they just beep beep and do their thing. meanwhile humans are losing their minds over wifi passwords and career choices. bees? they've got it right. steady flying, honey collecting, no midlife crisis. total respect.

but then there's the guilt. the deep, gnawing guilt at the thought of swatting bugs. imagine hearing a CRUNCH and being like "nooo, that's my cousin"? like... i don't want to admit this but i feel bad about killing ants already. thinking about going full bug would just escalate that guilt tenfold. we'd be out there mourning fallen gnats with eulogies and everything.

plus, can you imagine being on a date and sidestepping a man who tries to smack a spider and going, "wait, that's my best friend?" your relationship status would literally be "Bug Advocate" and that's your whole personality. you'd start giving bug-advocate speeches in public. "honey, it says right here in the bug bible that we must respect all six-legged beings." whereas your date is just trying to eat in peace but you're literally planning a bug funeral.

and also, think about the logistics. we'd need bug currency. crumbs? wings? someone would invent bug NFTs and then we'd all be arguing about digital flies. property rights over spiders, anyone? this is going down a wild rabbit hole.

but seriously, the concept of living as bugs kinda makes sense if you strip all the human drama away. no capitalism, no social media, just existing. and actually, that's kind of appealing when i'm burnt and all my thoughts drift into the void anyway. maybe being a bug is the chill way to escape the cycle. just crawl in a corner and contemplate the universe in peace.

ok yeah this is definitely my new obsession, thanks brain. i'm gonna be stuck on bug philosophy for like a week. i hope you've enjoyed this trainwreck of a thought experiment.

update: just googled "bug rights" and there's literally no literature. we're genuinely winging this. go outside and appreciate a bug today, they might be living better lives than us. sigh
