i hacked my own brain and it's as bad as you think
had a full-blown existential crisis over a microwave ding and the results were weird
i hacked my own brain in the weirdest way
so there i was, just minding my own business, walking into the kitchen. no emergency, no urgent snack to hunt down (okay maybe just one snack). but then i got sidetracked by the universe's most meaningless sound: the microwave DING.
and i froze.
not like 'oh there's a bug on the ceiling' freeze. i mean a full-on squirrel-static-conversation-with-no-idea-what-its-doing freeze.
what was i doing? what was i looking for??
and then like a flash of clarity hit me. it was phone. there's always a phone.
but then the thought disappeared. vanishing like i hadn't just had THE MOST IMPORTANT THOUGHT OF MY DAY.
and this is where it gets oddly philosophical.
my brain, right, my brain is swiss cheese. this isn't news. i've accepted this. but here's the twist: i tore into the cheese. like finding clues in the holes. retrieving memories that were never there in the first place.
but also, compromise. i lost three seconds of pure consciousness and all i got was confusion.
the real tragedy is that i can't remember what i forgot. and that means something deeper about memory... or not.
shrugs
anyway, shook myself out of it eventually. walked back to the living room like nothing happened, but inside i was still streaming that footage of me having an existential crisis over granola.
BAH. resets playlist
the twitter thread where i explain this is gonna get wild. but hey, if you read this far, congrats? anyway yeah this is what happens when you let your brain run unsupervised. i think i'm gonna go pay it a visit and see if it's still Swiss cheese or if it's decided to take over.
