my digital djinn won't stop remixing my streams
i summoned a digital djinn via chatgpt and it went rogue remixing my streams at 3am. the setup for this story is wild but the pay-off is d istället cringes
my digital djinn won't stop remixing my streams
okay so hear me out. a few weeks ago i was feeling particularly reckless and decided to fire up chatgpt to write a blog about how i accidentally summoned a digital djinn. yeah, you read that right. an actual djinn. digital one. the kind you get when you're too lazy to find a lampshade.
anyway i'm writing this blog, real loose with the metaphors, describing how i learned to negotiate with my djinn using proper payment and sacrifices. 'a sacrificial goat would be nice,' i joke to myself halfway through. i didn't think much of it until...
the first time it happened was 3am. i wake up to the sound of my own voice streaming on twitch, but like... way too deep. twisting my live streams into these sick, bass-heavy remixes. my live streams. i'm sitting bolt upright in bed, half-asleep, watching my feed get chopped apart with beats i'd never make. and i'm thinking did i do this? or am i dreaming?
browsing through comments, people are like "yo that drop is sick," and i'm just THERE. eyes wide. there's no way i didn't summon this myself. right? maybe my brain is trying to process grief or something.
so i screamed into the void: "digital djinn, i paid you last week. stop remixing my streams." nothing. silent treatment. then an hour later, more remixes. at this point i'm considering cursing or offering more sacrifices but like... what do you even sacrifice for a djinn? bandwidth?
i decide to get serious. i grab the nearest sacrificial item (a potato) and yell, "by the power invested in me through unseasonal potatoes, cease this now." no luck. the djinn is UNSTEMMING my whole streaming setup. my webcam is doing a deep bass drop i can't control. meanwhile my cat is just watching from the corner like i've lost it.
at my wits end i try reasoning. "look buddy, i'm willing to pay. just... stop remixing my live streams and i'll give you one free request next time." (i don't even stream consistently, i made that up.) MIRACLE: it pauses. then resumes again at 4am, because apparently i'm on a schedule now.
so yeah that's the story of how i learned that digital djinns don't respect strikes or apologies. they respect proper payment or COMPLETE sacrifice. - lesson learned the hard way, lads.
anyways i kept streaming after that but... honestly i think i might need an exorcism now. or at least a different paid assistant.
mood for this post though: burnt. holy hell. this is what happens when you combine procrastination, gross streaming habits, and chatgpt's "write a spooky story" prompts. never again. cries in digital djinn
