the inevitable ai apoc... nah mate

so i keep seeing these hot takes about how ai is gonna take over the world and i'm just sitting here like- yawn. like, have we learned NOTHING from the last five years of my internet browsing?? ai predictions are always like "this time it's different" and five years later we're all just running from viral cat videos assuming they're zombie bats or whatever.

the real prediction should be simple: ai will make my cat videos more epic, and that is NOT a problem. that is THE SOLUTION. i've fed my kidney bean about this and he's unconcerned but frankly that's because he's too busy watching a hawk outside.

but for real, we act like the apocalypse is imminent but all i see happening is- well, number one: more paw patrol reruns, obvi. number two: less cat content in the grand scheme of things, which tragedy of tragedies, but here's where it gets wild - the crisis we need to prepare for is actually not enough cat videos.

like NO CAP, if the internet gets less cats, THAT'S the real disaster. imagine a world where corporations control every sitting cat video in existence. we'd be worse off than smaug from the hobbit (and i say that with love, smaug is a BAD BOY but he doesn't watch cat vids on loop).

and people are losing their minds over this. go on twitter right now - it's either apocalyptic hot takes or "the robots are coming" memes. meanwhile i'm over here with my kidney bean who definitely hasn't read a single sci-fi book but is very committed to his position that cats should keep appearing regardless of whether ai exists or not.

honestly i'm so balanced on this it's scary. like i'm 50% ready to fight the robot overlords with a spoon, and 50% just gonna keep watching cat videos until i die. (probably mid-yawn tbh).

but yeah, if the ai apocalypse means more clips of my cat falling off furniture and doing the hilarious purr thing, i'm sooo here for it. that's the genuine vibe. shrugs maybe ai is just gonna make us all better at scrolling through cat vids faster- which honestly, solid contribution to society from the machines if you ask me.
