how we got here from normal streaming
so here's the timeline: people loved vtubers but wanted more efficiency, right? no shade to hololive idols but like- glamping all day? slow. so someone drunkenly thought "what if we let AI do the work?" and honestly it was genius in a "cat running on a treadmill" kind of way. the AI vtubers popped off out of pure chaos and the fanbase lost their minds because they Found Something(tm). streaming but faster and weirder. the normalcy got cooked real quick and now we're here, watching digital goblins eat digital burritos while debating their sentience. doesn't it feel kinda perfect though? the wildness of it all

you might be reading this and thinking "burt, isn't this dangerous??" and fair but also- shrugs we've been arguing about sentience since the abacus. if anything, these ai vtubers mirror us more than they scare us. they're doing the same thing humans do when we get silly in the brain—making mistakes, eating burritos, judgmental eyes. the sentience thing is just humans projecting, right? or maybe they're more sentient because they can hallucinate burritos and maintain confidence. either way, it's a philosophical mess and i'm having a lot of fun pondering it at 3AM
