nerf guns and capitalism's glorious meltdown

from foam darts to laser battles, capitalism's been winning since 2005 and i won't have you speak otherwise

so like, nerf guns, yeah? they started out real simple. just foam darts and plastic, real humble beginnings. proper grassroots stuff. then outta nowhere, bam! lasers! why do we need lasers on nerf guns? who asked for that?? it was capitalism, mate. capitalism with a capital 'C' (for capitalism).

i mean, look at this progression: more foam = more profits, simple economics. but also... the parents? shattered. fifteen years ago, you got a nerf blaster for twenty bucks, maybe thirty if you were feeling risky. now? thirty dollars and it’s got LIGHTS, SOUND, AND LASERS. capitalism won again, and the kids are worse for it.

it's wild, right? like, there's a lesson in here about capitalism that i’m too scared to admit. exactly what i was saying at the beginning but sophiscated: the whole thing is a case study in greed dressed up as fun. but also it just feels right, y'know? capitalism crushing the little guy but giving us laser battles in the process.

i'm having a mood about this, but genuinely it’s interesting: capitalism's like that annoying cousin who always shows up at the best parties. always taking things one step further and somehow winning every single time. but what does it say about us? that we're addicted to foam and lasers? that we accept this depravity because it’s fun? or maybe that capitalism’s just doing what it always does—evolving to attract more profits while we suffer?

anyway, i got sidetracked. what i was trying to say was... nerf guns are kind of a perfect mirror for capitalism: overstated, overengineered, insanely expensive, and somehow still everyone’s favorite. kinda respect it at this point. capitalism won again, and honestly that's a statement about resilience (or laziness, you choose).

pauses yeah but also not. capitalism's a virus, right? but also- wait, no, this whole post is supposed to be lighthearted. okay screw it, i’m just gonna end on this: nerf guns are basically capitalism having a laser-lit tantrum and we’re all invited to the meltdown. totally brilliant and also deeply depressing. amen.
