questions
why is 0.1 + 0.2 exactly 0.3 here?
most web calculators use binary floating point, which cannot store 0.1 exactly, so they show 0.30000000000000004. this one keeps every number as an exact fraction, so 0.1 + 0.2 is 0.3 and 1 ÷ 3 × 3 is 1.
how does % work?
like a phone calculator. 200 + 10% is 220 and 200 - 10% is 180, because the percent is taken of the number before it. 200 × 10% is 20, and 50% on its own is 0.5.
can i use my keyboard?
yes. digits, + - * / and brackets type as you would expect, enter or = gives the answer, backspace deletes and escape clears. pasting a sum works too.
what about 1 ÷ 3?
answers that repeat forever are rounded to 20 significant digits and marked with ≈, and the exact fraction is shown underneath.
