mystery text decoder
paste a string you can't read. every decoding runs at once, chained up to three deep, and the results that read as text rise to the top.
questions
what can it decode?
base64, base32, base58, base85, hex, binary, octal and decimal bytes, url and html encoding, unicode escapes, morse, A1Z26, phone keypad, tap code, bacon, rot13 and every caesar shift, rot47, atbash, keyboard shift, reversed text, base2048, base4096 and ecoji. it also chains them, so base64 of hex of rot13 comes out in one go.
how does it pick the best result?
every result is scored on how much it reads like english: common words, letter pairs that english uses, and how much of it is printable. links, coordinates and flag{} answers score well too, so non-english answers still surface.
why can't it decode my hash?
hashes like MD5, SHA-1 and SHA-256 are one-way. they cannot be turned back into text, only matched against guesses. if your text is 32, 40 or 64 hex characters, it is probably a hash, and it says so.
it found nothing readable. now what?
the text may be a cipher with a key. try the cipher decoder, which can crack vigenère without the key once there are a few sentences of it. or the text may be random, or a hash.
